The Butler County Bridge construction consists of a concrete girder bridge and 1,300 Ft of new asphalt road over the Little Walnut River on SW Haverhill Rd., utilizing brand new forms. There are 13 Ft each side of the concrete approach and the bridge is 198 Ft x 30 Ft with (12) pilings, (4) drill shafts and (12) K-4 girder beams with guard rails.
Utilizing Alan’s Excavating, the existing bridge was demolished to begin the building of the new bridge. Meanwhile, they created a temporary access road and set (3) 3 Ft diameter pipes to take the water from one side to the other side. A unique part of the project was the water coming back into the area, causing a challenge. A Belger 250 ton crane was used to move the beams. In addition, there was placement of the biodegradable logs to the new surrounding seeding and mulched areas, and rock on both sides of the river.
